PST Group is reconstructing the Tauragė wastewater treatment plant

At the beginning of this year, UAB “Tauragės vandenys” and AB “PST Group” signed a construction works contract for the reconstruction (expansion) of the Tauragė city wastewater treatment plant. The project is worth EUR 8.8 million including VAT, and the implementation period is 24 months.

The project is located in Ližiai village, Tauragė district. It covers new construction and the reconstruction of existing engineering structures. The works include a primary treatment building and laboratory, tertiary treatment buildings, new water supply and sewer networks, and upgraded process pipelines. They also include settling tanks, OCO and wastewater equalisation tanks, and a sludge storage shed.

“As wastewater volumes grow, the plant has outgrown its capacity and is now far too small. With this project, we aim to expand the facility while introducing more advanced engineering treatment technologies. The contractor that won the tender has extensive experience upgrading treatment facilities across Lithuania, so we expect the work to run smoothly,” says Tadas Pauparis, Director of UAB “Tauragės vandenys”.

The Tauragė wastewater treatment plant currently treats about 2,771.6 thousand m³ of wastewater per year, or an average of 7,600 m³ per day. The expansion will help secure the plant’s capacity for years to come.

On 30 September, a time capsule ceremony was held on the construction site to mark the official start of the project. The detailed design is complete, the earthworks are done, and the foundations are prepared. Concreting works are now getting underway, and preparations for pile drilling have begun.
